Osmonds Not Planning Return In 2012
Branson Tri Lakes News

October 25, 2011

FORSYTH — The Osmonds do not plan to perform in Branson in 2012, which would make it the first year in nearly two decades the family has not appeared in the Live Music Show Capital of the World.

Jimmy Osmond, owner and promoter of the show starring him and his brothers, made the announcement two weeks ago at a reunion of employees who have worked for the family in Branson over the past 20 years. He later posted the news on his Facebook page.

“Branson has been good to me,” Osmond said. “(This) marks the end of a 20-year running streak. We are grateful for your support.”

Jimmy Osmond opened the Osmond Family Theater in 1992, when he was 27. Since then, the Osmonds have welcomed more than 4 million guests at that theater and other venues in town, Osmond said. Tammy Felton, director of marketing and sales for the Osmonds, said the brothers’ absence won’t be permanent.

"We will not be in Branson next year,” she said. “But we will be back eventually.”

Felton said the brothers are embarking on their final tour of the United Kingdom next year, which also happens to be their largest such tour, with 50 dates planned. The brothers’s schedule is also filling up with shows in this country.

“With that many road dates, we would not be able to come back here and have a meaningful schedule,” Felton said.

The Osmonds have performed select dates throughout this year at the Caravelle Theatre on 76 Country Boulevard.

Their Christmas show begins Nov. 1 and runs through early December. Their final scheduled date in Branson is Dec. 7.
