Donny And Marie Bring Vegas Show To Toronto

Donny Osmond is anticipating a homecoming of sorts this summer when he and his sister Marie bring their high-energy Las Vegas variety show to Toronto.

Osmond, who arrived from Las Vegas overnight, said Monday that returning to Toronto felt like "coming home." The American singer, actor and former teen heartthrob lived in Toronto when he starred in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat during the 1990s.
Donny & Marie, set to run July 5-17, is one of three new offerings announced Monday by local theatre company Dancap Productions.
The Osmonds' family-friendly, multimedia spectacle is currently the resident show at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. The duo also performed a version of the show on Broadway during the 2010 holiday season.
"There's a lot of stuff in the show," Osmond emphasized to reporters on Monday.
"When Marie and I put this together, we decided we didn't want a retrospective of our careers, a walk down memory lane. Yes, you do that. You get |

'a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n roll,' some Donny & Marie show footage. But you also get some of the current [material]."
The siblings continue to have a playful, give-and-take dynamic onstage, he added.
"Marie and I, we're so competitive. That sibling rivalry thing: it's real, it's true. But the interesting thing that goes on onstage: we know exactly what each other is going to do. Sometimes we'll improvise."
