The Osmonds cartoon made its debut on ABC television. Silhouetting was used when the Osmonds performed songs which end with applause. Rankin/Bass utilized computer imagery for the silhouettes of the Osmonds dancing. "I think this was one of the first times any type of computer was used in an animated project," according to storyboard artist Don Duga. The show was produced by Rankin and Bass. Three major independent television regions screened the 17-part Osmond series which began airing on September 16, 1972.
