I’ll play my best for him…
As a singer and drummer, I’ve always had a special fondness for this holiday classic. The lyrics tell the story of a poor young boy who was unable to afford a gift for the infant Jesus, so he played his drum for the newborn. Miraculously, the baby seemed to understand, and smiled at the drummer boy in gratitude.
What an inspiring story!
Now, I’ve put my personality into this classic with a drum solo of my own…one that I hope will bring a smile to YOUR face when you hear it – be it the holiday season or any day of the year. Dedicated to all those drummers out there who love the Savior Jesus Christ. – Jay Osmond
The Little Drummer Boy
Come they told me,
pa rum pum pum pum
A newborn King to see,
pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring,
pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King,
pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum,
The ox and lamb kept time,
pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum
Ooooh yeah
Little Baby,
pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too,
pa rum pum pum pum
I’ll play my drums for him,
pa rum pum pum pum
I’ll play my best for him,
pa rum pum pum pum
rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum,
Then He smiled at me,
pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.
Oh yeah
Here we go ….
(drum solo)
Me and my drum
Oh yeah!
